Melchor Palencia is an Op-Ed writer and opinion journalist based in Guatemala City.
He currently writes a weekly opinion column for elPeriódico de Guatemala (now ePinvestiga) one of the country’s most widely read investigative journalism platforms.
Before that, he wrote for The Times of Israel and gAZeta, and other international and national media outlets.
Currently pursuing a B.A. in Political Science at Universidad Francisco Marroquín, Guatemala. Recognized for a multidisciplinary approach that integrates storytelling with political and cultural analysis. Fellow member of PEN America and advocate for freedom of expression around the world.
ABOUT ME
Self-taught photographer, whose work is characterized by a deep passion for digital and contemporary art. A lover of black and white photography, he digitally edits his images and converts them into physical works, merging the digital with the tangible.
In his spare time, he curates and oversees a Ratos la Vida, a weekly newsletter published on Substack.
