Melchor Palencia began writing opinion columns at the age of 15, driven by curiosity, enthusiasm, and an early interest in public affairs. Since then, he has built more than four years of professional experience across print and digital media.

He is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science at Universidad Francisco Marroquín in Guatemala and holds a Diploma of Specialization in Communication from IESE Business School, University of Navarra.

Beyond his academic work, Melchor Palencia has been an active member of PEN America since 2025 and the Society of Professional Journalists (Sigma Delta Chi) since 2026. His writing has also appeared across various digital platforms, alongside his independent project, a Ratos la Vida, where he publishes essays, commentary, and personal reflections.
